Winter is Over

Winter is Over is the photo and essay collection that works as a window onto the most overseen, never before analyzed process of underground artistic movements in Soviet and Post-soviet Georgia. The book explores alternative spaces, studios formed in Tbilisi starting from the end of 1980’s and the process of resistance.  Georgian Photographer Guram Tsibakhashvili observes all the major and minor events with his camera witnessing the birth of ideas, new movements and performances. Tsibakhashvili holds the most unique archive of spontaneously created spaces striving beyond restrictions and censorships in the personal rooms and studios of regular, Soviet residential buildings. Winter is Over is a book of personal memories and photo-archive from the first-hand spectator, participant and the memory-keeper breakthrough events of 90’s Tbilisi.
